South West Wales Property Gala Dinner 2008
When the going gets tough…
Over 200 property industry players gathered in Swansea in September for the first Insider South West Wales Property Gala Dinner on 11 September. While much of the talk was of market turbulence, the speakers were just as keen to discuss big opportunities.
First up was Glen Dyke, development manager for Urban Splash, who has been closely involved in the regeneration group’s project with Hammerson to remodel Swansea City Centre.
His newcomer’s perspective was balanced by the second speaker, Ron Slater, who has been in the industry for 45 years and first pitched up in Swansea in 1978 as deputy city estate agent in the former Swansea City Council. Slater has moved between the public and private sectors and back again, and is now head of regional infrastructure at the Welsh Assembly Government.
The event was made possible thanks to support from sponsors Cowlin Construction, DPP LLP, Holder Mathias Architects, JCP Solicitors, Lambert Smith Hampton and Swansea Bay Partnership.
The evening’s chosen charity was the St Madoc Christian Youth Camp, which provides leisure opportunities for disadvantaged young people. Guests helped to raise £1,862 on the night for this worthwhile cause.
