Yorkshire Property Industry Awards 2008
Evans' much-coveted £425m disposal of 275 buildings across the north of England was named commercial property deal of the year at the inaugural Yorkshire Property Industry Awards, organised by Insider. The disposal of 275 buildings was the first big disposal the Leeds-based company has made and had at one stage more than six different companies openly bidding for it. In accepting his award at the ceremony, at Saviles Hall at the Royal Armouries, Andreas Evans urged the property industry not to be totally put off by the credit crunch. "The money is out there," he said, "and it's cheap." He did admit, however, that Evans was in a "comfy" position having gathered such a war chest and was waiting to see exactly how to invest it. The other shortlisted deals were Caddick and Land Securities' joint venture to develop the Trinity Quarter and Town Centre Securities' sale of No 1 Riverside.
